It pretty much has to be used in conjunction with something else, and if you don't specifically want that midrange distortion, then there's no real reason to use it at all. Once you do that, you have to push it enough that it gives that distortion without sounding awful.and it's actually more like 1 or 2 dB.generally not enough to hit modern loudness levels on its own. The classic sound involves it being unlinked, meaning that you actually have to use 2 of the plugins and either set or trick your DAW into only using 1 per side.

L2s do this mid-focused distortion that can sound great and definitely sounds like it's time.but getting that sound out of the plugin (as opposed to the hardware) is actually a little convoluted. But, there isn't really a specific number. I think that the L2 sounds awful if it's doing too much. How many dbs of gain reduction should I be shooting for on the L2? Helps us keep the sub clean by reporting posts and comments that are in fault.
